Jackson Pollock was an artist who is famous for his 'splatter' painting technique. This site allows you to make your own 'Pollock'.

Pablo Picasso was an artist who is famous for his 'cubist' painting technique, which broke up the object as if it could be seen from multiple viewpoints at once (there was a post showing a video of his painting technique earlier in this blog). This site allows you to make your own 'Picasso'.

Biomorphs & Disney Meets Darwin

Evolution means that things are selected from a set of other things that are only a little bit different. Although it is widely misunderstood, it is one of the most powerful ideas ever conceived and explains how life came to be. When I was younger, I read an amazing book about evolution called 'The Blind Watchmaker' which came with a computer program called 'Biomorphs', which allowed you to create patterns by selecting ones that were 'only a little bit different' from the one you wanted. You can try a similar program here. Try making a bug or a tree or a robot or a skyscraper or a fish (or anything else you feel like trying to make), by selecting whichever one seems closest to what you want.

I also love this site 'Disney Meets Darwin' which uses evolution to create walking creatures.
