The Google Ngram Viewer is a cool tool that allows the comparison of a list of words with a graph of their % use in literature over time. Pictured is a comparison of "guerre et amour" from the french corpus. Notice the spike in the 1910s during world war 1 likely because of the Schlieffen Plan.
